Chef Jen Wanous

Growing up in California, the land of milk and honey—and avocados—I took fresh wholesome, richly varied food for granted. Now, living in fast-paced New York, I realize how hard it is for many people to maintain a healthy diet while constantly on the go. And so as a personal chef, I’ve dedicated myself to bringing a fresh approach to food in each meal I prepare for my clients.

My interest in integrative food preparation—the combination of the freshest, most wholesome ingredients and nutrient-specific foods and spices—led me to the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Wellness here in the city, where I learned the nuances of high-quality meal preparation with special attention to modified diets. After graduation, I worked in James Beard Award–winning restaurants and also earned my chops on some of NYC’s best-loved food trucks.

Now I bring my breadth of culinary experience into the homes of families who need convenient, healthy meals. I find much joy in creating menus and meals to suit my clients’ needs, especially when that involves avocados!

Retreat and Event Catering

Create tailored menus for special events-from holistic meals for a mind-body retreat to a wedding cake for 300.

Culinary Event Producer

Managed teams of up to 50 people to execute large-scale culinary events and served as the Event Director for the International Chefs Congress, a gathering of 3,000 chefs.

Culinary Writer

Produce a monthly blog on health and wellness for AARP and serve as the Recipe Editor for the magazine, Put a Egg On It.
